The police are investigating unidentified human skeletons found on an abandoned plot of land in Bangkok. Locals reported no suspicious activity.
Officers from Lat Phrao Police Station, along with rescuers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, examined the skeletons yesterday, October 7, on the overgrown plot located in Soi Lat Phrao 101, intersection 42, in the Bangkapi district of Bangkok. Some locals refer to this alley as Soi Orrapin 1.
The police and rescuers had to walk approximately 200 metres into the wood to locate the first skeletal remains, with other pieces scattered across seven locations within the forest. Officers were unable to identify each piece, except for the skull.
It is suspected that the person died at least a year before the discovery, making it difficult for the police to determine the nationality, gender, or other identifying features. The remains were sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for further examination.
Lat Phrao Police Station coordinated with other police stations in the surrounding areas to review missing persons reports but no relevant information has been found.
Jamriang In-ngam, the owner of a house located just 20 metres from the scene, assured officers that she had not noticed any suspicious person or heard anything unusual in the area. She has lived there for over 20 years, during which no serious criminal activity was reported.
Jamriang also mentioned that she previously saw migrant workers in the vicinity of the abandoned land but they had never been involved in any arguments or physical altercations.
Some netizens commented on the news, stating that Soi Lat Phrao 101 is typically quiet, despite being in the heart of Bangkok. They noted that the alley is accessible from multiple routes, making it difficult to track those who frequent the area.
The police did not disclose who initially discovered the skeletons or how they were found. A Thai netizen claiming to live in the area suggested that a homeless man stumbled upon the remains while urinating at the scene.
