Three Thai men are seeking justice after they were physically assaulted by a group of security guards and a DJ at a bar in the northern province of Kamphaeng Phet on October 1.
The video of the chaotic altercation inside the entertainment venue in Kamphaeng Phet was shared by various Thai news agencies. In the footage, the bar’s security guards, dressed in black vests, can be seen attacking a group of customers and beating them with glass bottles.
Channel 7 reported that the DJ who worked at the bar also joined in the assault. He was seen grabbing empty glass bottles and smashing them over the heads and bodies of the customers.
The attack left three people injured, one of them seriously. The seriously injured victim was taken to hospital with wounds to his head, face, and body.
One of the victims, 23 year old Spy, told the media that the incident took place at around 1am. He insisted that neither he nor his friends were drunk at the time, as they did not go to the bar to drink but to meet an older friend.
Before the assault, Spy’s older friend and his girlfriend were involved in a heated argument, prompting one of the bar’s security guards to approach them. The guard asked the couple, “Don’t you know who I am?” to which Spy’s older friend responded, “How the f*ck would I know you?” This exchange triggered the confrontation.
The guard and his colleagues then attacked the couple, at which point Spy and two other friends intervened. Some of the security guards turned their attention to Spy and his friends, beating them with glass bottles. Spy maintains that the DJ also took part in the assault.
Spy said he reported the incident to the local police but no progress was made in the case. As of now, neither the bar owner nor the relevant security guards have addressed the matter publicly.
Spy urged the news agencies to publicise his story to help him and his friends seek justice, both for their safety and that of other patrons.
