Rocker Dee Snider’s son got so excited seeing his dad in concert that he tried to get on the stage with him and almost got trampled in the process.
Dee Snider fronts Twisted Sister, the band known for the hit “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” and is dad to four children with his wife, Suzette Snider.
His oldest child, Jesse Blaze Snider, was born in 1982. He followed his dad’s footsteps into the world of music and has also worked as a TV host and comic book writer.
However, Jesse Snider’s first gig almost ended in injury, according to his father. On X, formerly Twitter, a fan asked Dee Snider, “How did your oldest react the first time he saw you in the Twisted Sister’s costume???”
The singer replied: “He tried to run out and join me on stage! My wife pulled him back before he got trampled!”
The fan’s question stemmed from a clip of Warning: Parental Advisory, the 2002 made-for-television film in which Dee Snider starred. The dramedy tells the story of the rocker and fellow musicians John Denver and Frank Zappa testifying before Congress in 1985 as the Parents Music Resource Center lobbied lawmakers for stricter content-labeling on albums.
In an X post, Dee Snider commented that the movie was “another fun role.” The two-minute clip included a scene in which a child burst into tears at the sight of the front man, prompting a fan to ask, “Did kids react that way in real life, or did they stare in amazement and become instant rockers?”
The singer replied, “The only children who didn’t run crying were mine!” Another fan then asked about his oldest son’s reaction to seeing Twisted Sister perform live for the first time.
Newsweek contacted Dee Snider’s representatives by email for comment on Tuesday outside normal working hours.
Dee Snider regularly engages with fans on X, and he recently defended his relationship with his wife after a user wrote that “age gap relationships were creepy.” The rocker replied: “Wait…what? She’s only 5 years younger than me! Lol!”
In a separate post, he discussed the nature of their relationship and how his wife, a costume designer, had stuck with him over the years.
He wrote: “When I had nothing Suzette was there, when I made it big in the 80s she was there, when I lost it all in the 90s she was there (and I never thought for a second she might leave me) and today she is still with me. To the end.”
