One house has gained a unique feature after a volcano erupted and spilled lava inside.
Edosa Osemwegie, 25, a residential counselor from Boston, recorded a video of the house while on vacation in Cha das Caldeiras in Fogo, Cape Verde, a nation off the west coast of Africa that’s made up of 10 volcanic islands.
There, he met a friendly family who invited him into their home, where the impressive rock formation was hidden.
Osemwegie told Newsweek: “I went to visit the volcano in Cha das Caldeiras, and I kept walking and walking, as I am a very inquisitive person.
“I struck up conversation with the locals, and one of the residents appreciated my curiosity and let me inside.”
The video, which he posted on TikTok, has received more than 1.5 million views in a matter of days. It shows a solidified rock formation spilling into the home’s dining room from two entrances.
“This is crazy,” Osemwegie can be heard saying in the clip. “Insane. You don’t see s*** like this every day.”
In the video’s comments section, he said the family let him take a piece of the volcanic rock home with him.
Volcanic eruptions result in rock formations, as lava travels slowly and over time cools and solidifies. According to the American Geosciences Institute, anything in the path of a lava flow from a volcanic eruption will become encased in a thick layer of rock.
The Pico do Fogo volcano erupted in November 2014, forcing residents to evacuate. It was the first eruption since 1995.
The area is a popular destination for hikers and tourists. The 2014 eruption lasted from November 23, 2014, until February 8, 2015. About 20 people needed medical attention as a result of the eruption, but no deaths were reported.
TikTok users have expressed awe at the natural wonder they saw in the clip.
“It literally looks like the whole room now is an art piece,” one viewer commented.
“At least it stopped,” another added, “very mindful very demure of the volcano.”
“Get some wine and invite some ppl over because this is a masterpiece,” one user wrote.
“If this happened to my house I would keep it the way it is, it’s magnificent pieces of natural art,” a commenter added.
Another said, “The best interior design in whole history!!!”
