Stephen King’s New Warning About Donald Trump Takes Off Online

Bestselling author Stephen King has issued a new warning about former President Donald Trump, following a campaign speech in Michigan that has raised eyebrows across social media platforms.

King’s message, posted on X, formerly Twitter, on October 10, came in response to clips of Trump’s recent address at the Detroit Economics Club.

“This man has entirely lost the plot. DON’T VOTE FOR TRUMP,” King wrote in his post, which has garnered more than 230,000 views.

Trump’s nearly two-hour address, ostensibly focused on economic policy, quickly devolved into a series of tangential anecdotes and non-sequiturs.

In one particularly notable segment, Trump attempted to draw parallels between SpaceX rocket landings and President Joe Biden‘s campaign events during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“And, it’s so simple, I mean, you know. This isn’t like Elon with his rocket ships that land within 12 inches on the moon where they wanted to land,” Trump said, before launching into a description of SpaceX’s rocket boosters returning to Earth.

He then abruptly shifted to criticizing President Biden’s socially distanced campaign rallies, referring to them as “Biden circles.”

The former president’s disjointed narrative continued as he conflated these unrelated topics, stating, “He’d have eight circles, and he couldn’t fill ’em up. But then I heard he beat us with the popular vote. He couldn’t fill up the eight circles, I always loved those circles, they were so beautiful, so beautiful to look at.”

Newsweek contacted Trump’s campaign, and a press contact for King via email on Saturday for comment.

This latest scathing critique from the author, who joined the Democratic Party in 1970, follows a pattern of the author voicing concerns about Trump.

On October 5, King posted on X, “Trump is past his sell-by date. Don’t vote for an old man who won’t release his medical records.” This statement highlighted ongoing discussions about Trump’s age and health transparency.

At 78 years old, Trump is now the oldest presidential nominee in U.S. history, following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race on July 21 and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. Despite being only three years younger than Biden, Trump is facing increased scrutiny over his age.

An Economist/YouGov survey of 1,604 U.S. adults conducted on August 2 found that nearly a third of independent voters believe Trump’s age will “severely limit” his ability to be president. Specifically, 32 percent of independent voters, who could prove crucial in key swing states, think that Trump’s health and age would affect his ability to fulfill his presidential duties if he enters the Oval Office.

This figure surpasses the number of independent voters who think Trump’s age will have “little effect” (29 percent) or no effect at all (24 percent) on his ability to be president. In contrast, only 7 percent of U.S. adults believe Harris’ age will affect her ability to be president, with 80 percent saying it will have little or no effect.

Trump’s medical history has been a subject of controversy. In 2015, Dr. Harold Bornstein, Trump’s personal physician, wrote a letter stating Trump would be the “healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Bornstein later claimed in 2018 that Trump had dictated the letter to him.

More recently, in November 2023, Trump published a doctor’s letter on his Truth Social platform, claiming his physical and cognitive health were exceptional. However, the letter’s legitimacy has been questioned due to its lack of specific test results or key health metrics.
