A Thai woman plunged to death from the 12th floor of her condominium in the Rama 9 neighbourhood of Bangkok following a dispute with her boyfriend.
The death of the 25 year old woman, whose name remains undisclosed, was reported to the Hua Mark Police Station at around 10pm yesterday, October 15. Her body was found near a swimming pool on the fifth floor of the 36-floor condominium on Rama 9 Road.
According to reports from Daily News and PPTV HD, the woman was lying on her arm and had a wound on her right ankle. She was dressed in black underwear and a shirt without a bra, which initially led witnesses to suspect sexual assault.
During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the deceased lived in a room on the 12th floor of the condo with her boyfriend. The man was seen standing on the balcony of their room when she fell to her death.
A neighbour living next door told the media that she heard the couple in a heated argument before the woman screamed. The neighbour recorded the noise as evidence in case anything tragic occurred.
The deceased’s boyfriend was summoned to the police station for questioning, and officers also searched their shared room to collect evidence.
During questioning last night, the man admitted that he argued with his girlfriend over jealousy. He stated that his girlfriend threatened to commit suicide by jumping off the condo several times before. This time, he was unable to stop her before she fell to her death.
A police spokesperson revealed the investigation will continue until they find out the root cause behind the woman’s fatal fall.
In a related case motivated by jealousy, a Thai man fatally stabbed his wife in a car on October 8 in Phuttamonthon Sai 2 Soi 27 in Bangkok, after suspecting her of having an affair. The man said he secretly followed his wife to a restaurant, where he believed she was meeting her lover.
The husband admitted that although he did not encounter her lover as expected, they argued, which led him to fatally stab her. He also attempted to commit suicide after his wife’s death but failed.
