A soldier attacked a sausage vendor with a knife before fleeing to a military camp, leaving the police unable to apprehend him. Despite the incident occurring a week ago, the perpetrator remains at large, unpunished.

Wisanu, a 20 year old sausage vendor from Nang Rong district, Buriram province, reported the incident to Police Lieutenant Colonel Thongrat Keawsanam. According to Wisanu, he was preparing sausages for sale with his younger brother when Thanathep, a soldier currently stationed at a camp in Buriram, attacked him with a knife.

The brutal assault left Wisanu with a head injury requiring five stitches. Additionally, Thanathep also physically assaulted Wisanu’s younger brother.

CCTV footage from a neighbouring house captured the entire incident, clearly showing Thanathep’s assault and subsequent escape. However, the police have yet to arrest the perpetrator as he has taken refuge within the confines of the military camp, complicating efforts to bring him to justice.

Wisanu recounted the unnerving incident to reporters.

“I was preparing sausages with my brother when suddenly, the attacker came in and struck my head with a knife. I fell to the ground, bleeding profusely. My brother, who witnessed everything, tried to help but was also beaten and injured.”

The motive behind the attack appears to stem from a prior physical altercation between Wisanu and Thanathep, which may have led to the soldier’s dissatisfaction and subsequent violent outburst, reported KhaoSod.

Despite the severity of the incident and the clear evidence captured on CCTV, nearly one week has passed without any progress in apprehending the soldier. This delay has raised concerns about the effectiveness of law enforcement in dealing with perpetrators who are shielded by military affiliations.
