The Horizon is set to half aircraft emissions and burn over a quarter less fuel than a traditional commercial aircraft.
Natilus, an aerospace manufacturer has unveiled the model today that aims to cut fuel emissions by 50% and burn 30% less fuel.
The super-jet is capable of carrying up to 200 passengers from London to the US.
Race for the future of flying
Natilus’s new Horizon design allows for customisation that most flyers have never experienced.
Despite limited information on how the plane will be customisable for the passenger, Natilus have a focus on net-zero targets and user experience.
Natilus aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with the Horizon, and addressing wider environmental concerns in the sector.
JetZero’s economic focus stresses the pressure on the industry for innovation.
Tom O’Leary, JetZero CEO, told The Financial Times: “A JetZero blended wing cuts that line item in half.
“That’s not just a competitive advantage; in the future, it’ll be survival.
“It uses half the fuel, makes half the carbon dioxide compared to a tube-and-wing aircraft, frankly, even with the same engines.
“Fuel is the largest line item on an airline’s profit and loss statement.”
The Horizon boasts a customisable cabin and seat layouts for commercial flyers, and will reportedly be much quieter.

The Horizon also offers 40% more volume in each aircraft, whilst being 25% lighter.
Routes include New York to London and LA to Boston.
Horizon is the company’s first passenger aircraft, set to debut in the early 2030s.
The push towards the industry’s next zero targets have inspired the new bold look.
According to Natilus, ‘Over the next two decades, market demand for passenger and freight aircraft will significantly outpace aircraft manufacturing capabilities.’
Aleksey Matyushev, CEO and co-founder of Natilus, said: “The commercial aviation industry is looking for real solutions to become more sustainable, more efficient, and more profitable.
“With the Horizon, we’re introducing improved aviation economics that benefit the industry while helping safeguard our planet for future generations.”
Natilus is a San Diego-based company developing a family of hyper-efficient blended-wing-body (BWB) aircraft designs.
The manufactures, who have also developed defence aircraft, face competition from the likes of JetZero.
JetZero has noted that their designs are heavily based on the look of military stealth-bombers.
JetZero’s version is reported to have a 200ft wingspan, and is capable of carrying 50 more passengers than Natilus’.
This higher capacity model also looks to launch in the 2030s.
