Are Rumors About Simon Cowell’s Death True? Viral Posts Debunked

Rumors about Simon Cowell's passing are false; viral posts have been debunked

The internet is agog with the news that Simon Cowell, a judge on ‘America’s Got Talent’, has passed away.

The news of Simon’s death first became viral on Facebook and was immediately followed by the news of the demise of One Direction member Liam Payne, with whom Cowell had originally formed the group.

The internet was flooded with condolence messages, with many fans expressing sorrow at his demise. However, these reports are false and Cowell is very much alive.

Is It True That Simon Cowell Has Passed Away?

The fake news originated from the Facebook page B58 News, which shared a picture on October 20th of a news anchor shedding tears at the untimely death of Simon Cowell. Interestingly, to provide more weight to the news, a picture of a casket with flowers was also shared online. The picture was boldly captioned “DIED TODAY” and was shared by netizens online.

The Facebook post also stated that 10 minutes ago ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge Simon Cowell was confirmed….

Now, why this post is fake news is because Simon Cowell passed away on October 20, but as per Media House Metro, he had attended the 2024 ‘Pride of Britain Awards’ on Monday, October 21, 2024. He also conferred the ‘Child of Courage’ award to Aiyla Mata.

He also expressed his deep remorse at the passing of his dear friend and former Mirror Editor, Peter Willis.

Despite this overwhelming proof that Simon is hale and hearty, netizens continued to pour their hearts out and express their sorrow and condolences.

One netizen wrote,

“OMG this is really shocking. He is too good and young, loved and needed to go soon. Unbelievable RIP SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS”

Another wrote,

“Condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.”

Earlier, Cowell had taken to Instagram to pay his respects to Payne on October 19 and referred to him as

“Kind, sweet, thoughtful, and talented.”

Other netizens also reacted and expressed their condolences.

As the fake news about the death of the former X Factor Judge spread and became viral, it is interesting to note that Simon Cowell has been a victim of hoax death news in the past also.

However, the crux of the matter is that the 65-year-old Simon Cowell is very much alive and, sadly, he has become a victim of another internet death hoax. He is not alone in the latest obnoxious trend on the internet which is devised only for gaining more views. Other victims of similar trends include Ashton Kutcher, DJ Khaled, Oprah Winfrey, Justin Bieber, and Will Smith.
