The NFL contest will be available on Disney+, ESPN+, and NFL+.
The Simpsons creators will use their characters from the still-running 35-year primetime scripted series.
Homer Simpsons will be a member of the 3-4 Cowboys while Bart Simpson will be representing the 3-5 Bengals.
Also, Marge and Lisa will interview players during the game and Maggie will fly the SkyCam, while the other characters and the show’s references will be displayed during the game.
Using Sony‘s Beyond Sports Technology, fans will see each snap from the real-life matchup at AT&AT Stadium as it happens.
The venue will be also replaced by an animated Atoms Stadium in Springfield.
ESPN analysts Mina Kimes and Dan Orlovsky will be providing their color commentary with Drew Carter calling the game action.
The three talking heads will also be animated and transformed into Simpsons characters thanks to VR technology.
Voice actors from The Simpsons, Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, and Yeardley Smith, are set to participate.
The Simpsons game is the latest installment of alternate broadcasts in the sports world.
Last year, the NFL turned to Nickelodeon and Disney Pixar’s Toy Story.
The Toy Story version was only a one-time thing for the 2023 season’s Week 4 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons in London.
The Nickelodeon gimmick has been a big hit and will continue.
