Harris’ Trump-obsessed speech had no substance & failed to mention biggest issue for Americans – it won’t help her win

DARK. Divisive. Myopic. Substance-Free.

Those are the only words that can only be applied to Kamala Harris’ speech in Washington, DC on Tuesday night at the Ellipse, the site of then-President Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 remarks before a riot engulfed the U.S. Capitol.

It came as Donald Trump delivered ‘Trump Will Fix It’ remarks during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, in Florida[/caption]

The 35-minute speech was barely about her plans for the future as potentially the next president, or her (dubious) record in office as vice president during the Biden-Harris administration over the past 3 and 1/2 years.

At first, there was hope that Harris would end the reckless rhetoric the campaign has been immersed in since its inception in referring to Trump as a fascist and even comparing him to Hitler.

“We need to stop pointing fingers at each other,” she implored before repeating, “We have to stop pointing fingers.”

But just minutes later, an angry Kamala referred to Trump as a “petty tyrant,” “wannabe dictator,” “unstable,” and “obsessed with revenge.”

Overall, the Democratic nominee broached Trump’s name more than 20 times in a 35-minute speech. But one word she didn’t broach was inflation, which is considered the #1 issue for voters as they head to the polls.

Wages, which haven’t kept up with inflation during the Biden-Harris years, were also ignored, as was violent crime engulfing American cities.

On the foreign policy front, we also didn’t hear anything about Israel as it pertains to the war in Gaza or Ukraine as it pertains to the ongoing war against Russia.

And when Kamala wasn’t going after Trump, she was flat-out lying about his positions: Trump would “ban abortion nationwide, restrict access to birth control and put IVF treatments at risk and force states to monitor women’s pregnancies,” she claimed during her remarks at one point.

That’s not remotely true. In fact, it’s the exact opposite.
“We are going to be, under the Trump administration, we are going to be paying for that [IVF] treatment,” Trump said in September before adding, “We’re going to be mandating that the insurance company pay” under a government mandate.

Since earlier this year, Trump has also consistently stated that abortion legislation should be left to the states, per the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.

He has also pledged not to sign a national abortion ban.

As for imposing restrictions on birth control, Trump said back in May that he “have never and will never advocate for imposing restrictions on birth control.”

In other words, Harris lied. Again.

And after the speech ended, a funny thing happened: The VP’s night was quickly overshadowed by her boss, President Biden, who stepped all over what was billed to be a big night for Kamala as she fades in the polls to Donald Trump in the homestretch.

“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden said of Trump’s supporters on Tuesday night.

“His– his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”

You read that correctly: Biden referred to Trump supporters — who make up half the country — as “garbage.”

Add it all up, and the final selling point to voters appears to be Kamala Harris calling Trump a “petty tyrant” and Joe Biden calling those who support him “garbage.”

Not exactly the campaign of joy we were sold on the past three months.

If this was the closing argument, it isn’t a winning one.
