A creative poster for a rumored Nicolas Cage sequel, ‘Gone in 60 Seconds: Nanoseconds,’ has gone viral on the internet, leading to a mad rush to ascertain its veracity.
The poster first surfaced on Facebook, touting it as rushes of a new Nicolas Cage movie titled ‘Gone in 60 Seconds: Nanoseconds,’ a sequel to his 2000 movie, ‘Gone in 60 Seconds.’
The poster depicts Nicolas Cage wearing a leather jacket, complemented by aviator-style sunglasses, behind the film’s title and in front of a vintage car.
The post also carried a narrative for the rumoured sequel, teasing a 2025 release:
“‘GONE IN 60 SECONDS’ SEQUEL!!! NIC CAGE!!!
The post states,
“In ‘Gone in 60 Nanoseconds,’ retired master car thief Memphis Raines (Nicolas Cage) is drawn back into the underworld when a tech mogul steals priceless vintage cars for his illegal empire. With a new generation of thieves by his side, Memphis must outsmart cutting-edge security systems and rival gangs in a race against time to reclaim the stolen cars. As the clock ticks down, Memphis discovers that confronting his past is the only way to secure his future. Coming to cinemas in May 2025.”
Sorry Fans, But There Is No “Gone in 60 Seconds” Sequel
However, the fact is that the poster as well as the news is fake, and there is no planning for a sequel to ‘Gone in 60 Seconds.’
For the unversed, Nicolas Cage’s ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ was itself a rehash of a film of a similar name which was made in 1978.
The film itself was mired in tragedy after the demise of director H.B. Halicki, and it derailed the production of the flick.
This is not the first time that a Nicolas Cage film was rumoured for a remake or sequel. Earlier, there were speculations that a sequel to the Ghost Rider movie was in the offing starring Ryan Gosling after Cage initially played the role.
Nicolas Cage’s Future Projects
It is now clear that there are no plans in the offing for a ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ sequel.
However, Cage fans are in for a bonanza since the actor is busy with several high-profile projects, including projects like 2024’s Longlegs, and The Carpenter’s Son in which he will be working with FKA Twigs, Noah Jupe, and Souheila Yacoub.
The film is unique because it deals with exploring the rarely-told childhood story of Jesus Christ in a horror setting. The film has a shooting scheduled for the Summer 2024, but its release date has not been finalized.
