Maswanhise’s brace helps Motherwell beat Dundee 2-1

By Sport Reporter

WARRIORS midfielder Tawanda Maswanhise was the hero for Motherwell FC on Wednesday night as he scored a brace which saw his side beat rivals Dundee 2-1 in the Scottish League.

So important was the win it saw Motherwell leapfrogging Dundee into fourth place on the log standing.

Maswanhise was marking his return to coach Stuart Kettlewell’s side and he did not disappoint as he opened the scoring account of the game in 20 minutes, thanks to a good free-kick delivery from Lennon Miller.

Maswanhise’s goal was then cancelled by Sam Dalby who scored for the home side before the break.

The Zimbabwean midfielder then came back in the second half to complete his brace which saw his side earning 3 points.

Aged 21, Maswanhise signed a new contract with Motherwell early this month which will see him at the club until 2026.

The former Leicester Under 21 winger is rumoured to be part of the foreign-based players who have been called for national duty by Warriors head coach Michael Nees ahead of two AFCON Qualifiers games against Kenya and Cameroon.
