THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed that five people have died and six were injured when a Toyota Hiace collided with a fuel tanker along Harare-Bulawayo road, Kuwadzana 7 turn-off at the intersection of First Street and Bulawayo Road.
The accident occurred around 0510 hours Thursday morning.
In a press statement police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the identities of those who died are yet to be confirmed by their next of kin.
“Five people were killed while six others were injured when a Toyota Hiace kombi with a yet-to-be-established number of passengers on board collided with a fuel tanker with no passengers on board. The kombi had turned right into Bulawayo Road in front of the oncoming fuel tanker.
“The bodies of the victims were taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital. The five victims have not yet been identified by their next of kin”, said Nyathi.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
