However, customers pointed out that the cheap and cheerful soup and sandwiches have become anything but.

Less than impressed with the food chain’s soaring prices, one diner took to X to air their grievances.
“May I take this opportunity to complain about Panera,” they wrote in their Tweet.
“Cup of soup, half a sandwich, drink, over $16. Gave $1 tip.”
The customer pointed out that the set-up of the restaurant meant they didn’t even offer table service.
“I had to get my drink, get my food, scrape my dishes, dispose the trash, get my refill. I will not eat there again,” they concluded.
Designed to be a “fast casual” eatery, Panera now charges an average of $12 for a full-sandwich.
Meanwhile a cup of soup ranges between $6.99 to $7.99 while a bowl can set you back up to $8.99.
Customers are also given the option of selecting a bread bowl, which starts at $9.99.
For those wanting a taste of both, they can select a combo deal which includes a cup of soup and half a sandwich.
However, even this budget option doesn’t save customers much, averaging around $8.99.
In the wake of complaints by customers, the casual dining chain decided to cut the prices of their soup for a limited time.
You can now cozy up this fall with your favorite Panera soup without breaking the bank.
The deal requires the customer to purchase a full entrée, which can include a sandwich, salad, bowl of soup or mac & cheese.
You are then eligible to get a cup of soup for $1, excluding taxes/fees/charges.
For deliveries, an order minimum of $8 to $10 applies and may vary by location.
