A FRUSTRATED Walmart+ customer has lashed out at the retail corporation’s anti-theft measures after being forced to wait to purchase a $4 item.
The man voiced his annoyance with Walmart‘s theft prevention efforts, saying it makes it more difficult for shoppers like him who don’t steal to purchase products.
Gary Cassibry, who goes by garywcassibry on TikTok, shared a nearly three-minute video where he vented his frustration with Walmart locking items behind plexiglass shelves.
Cassibry recorded the video as he was exiting a Walmart.
He and his family had to go to the store to look for an item for his wife in the make-up department.
An annoyed Cassibry explains how they had a delivery from Walmart sitting on the steps of their home but had to stop by the retailer to pick up an item that was “unavailable” online.
“It’s an Equate brand, and it’s locked up. I don’t know why,” Cassibry said in the video, which has generated over 24,000 views.
“So, we go, and we saw three pickers, that’s what they call them, and we ask each one, ‘Hey, can you unlock this for us,’ and they say, ‘Oh, we don’t have keys.’
“I said, ‘Oh, okay, can you call somebody over here to help us,’ and they go, ‘I don’t have anything to call anybody.’”
Why are you locking up a $4 product?

Cassibry said he then asked the employee if they could find somebody on the floor who could open the shelf, to which they replied that he had to go to customer service.
The irate shopper further explained how the button to ask for help was not working and eventually walked over to the customer service department and asked to speak with a manager.
“I said look, we’re trying to get a $4 product out of a glass that was supposed to be delivered to our house, but because nobody has keys, they said it wasn’t available,” Cassibry said.
“I was like, if y’all don’t have things accessible, you need people that can get into the case so I can get my product. Anyway, this is insane.”
The man said he eventually got the item, but not before lashing out at Walmart’s anti-theft measures.
“It’s crazy cause many times this has happened… they need to make sure every picker has a key to every case in Walmart, so they can be able to pick the items and deliver them,” he added.
“And, not to mention, the manager did say, ‘Not all of our pickers have keys,’ Why?
“Then, she walked over there with us and said, ‘I have some keys, but I may not be able to open it because I may not have that specific keys.’
“If you’re going to lock stuff up, you need to have keys for everything.
“I understand that there is theft and stuff like that, but for the people that don’t steal, you’re making it harder for us.”
UNITED UPROAR
Cassibry ended his video by blasting, “And why are you locking up a $4 product? There are products more expensive that aren’t even locked up.”
The video caused an uproar among fellow Walmart shoppers and employees.
“I’m a picker – we DO NOT HAVE KEYS,” voiced one angry Walmart worker.
“We have to go find someone to unlock it when we need stuff out too. We feel the frustration.”
A former Walmart employee added, “I worked in Walmart electronics at one store and had 14 keys for the department. Every case different key. Moved to another newer store only 2 keys for entire department. Yeah what gives.”
“Omg yes. It takes centuries to get someone here to unlock something. Ugh,” commented a shopper.
“Same exact thing happens at my Walmart. So annoying!” another wrote.
