The internet in the last few days was flooded with news that has since gone viral, pertaining to the introduction of a new Candy Corn flavor by Dr. Pepper. What is the whole story behind this viral news, and where did it originate? Read on to know more about this developing story.
The picture that has since gone viral was posted by Brain Damage Studios on October 28, 2024, on its Facebook post. The picture shows the new Dr. Pepper Candy Corn flavor in its characteristic can and bottle forms. The post has since garnered more than 9,000 views and thousands of comments and likes. Most Dr. Pepper product fans have reacted with joy, and a small minority has been expressing doubts, especially since the manufacturer has not made an announcement about the launch of this new flavor on their official social media.
However, the truth soon dawned upon everyone when the Facebook page that shared the image in its ‘About Me’ section mentioned the following message:
“BRAIN DAMAGE STUDIOS (BDS) is a HUMOR/PARODY page. ANY PRODUCTS HERE ARE JOKES. I am not affiliated with any company or sponsor. Nothing here is serious. Have fun! ~ AK”
So it was another case of fake news, and fans who were overjoyed about the news of the new flavor must have realized their folly and cursed themselves for how they were taken for a ride with fake news.
Dr. Pepper has not introduced any Candy Corn flavor, and it is now clear that the post is fake news.
Checking the history of the Facebook page Brain Damage Studios clearly shows that the site has peddled such fake news in the guise of satire. In early October, it posted fake news about a Beverage Company introducing black licorice flavor drinks. After some time, when the post was viewed by thousands of viewers, it became clear that it was a fake post since the company also did not speak or advertise about the same.
