New York Yankees make major ban decision over future of fans who ripped ball from Dodgers star’s hand in World Series

TWO fans who interfered with play during Game 4 of the World Series were banned for Game 5.

New York Yankees season ticket holders Austin Capobianco and John Peter were escorted out of the stadium after grabbing Mookie Betts during the first inning of the game.

Yankees star Gleyber Torres was subsequently called out for fan interference.

And after the Yankees’ 11-4 win, Capobianco and Peter were banned from attending Game 5 against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night, with their team calling their conduct “unacceptable and egregious” in a statement.

Capobianco and Peter, as well as two other fans in their section, had their tickets revoked for Wednesday’s game.

Speaking to Newsday, the former complained of how the matter was handled.

“The banning to tonight’s game was kind of expected,” Capobianco began. “But the fact my little brother and his friends can’t use our season tickets tonight has really [ticked] me off.

“It’s not like they can go to the next game.”

Following the unsavoury incident during Game 4, the Yankees found a way to make a positive out of the situation.

Having revoked the four tickets, the Yankees made a brilliant decision over who should end up getting them.

Rather than place them back on sale, they opted to make an incredible gesture.

The four seats were given to pediatric cancer patient Calvin Young, 15, who was able to attend the game with his mom and two brothers.

Capobianco and the other three ticket holders were refunded by the team.

The 38-year-old from Connecticut made a further complaint about the aftermath to his Game 4 interference.

“Today has been a very difficult day,” he said. “With my phone ringing non-stop and still having a responsibility at my work.”

The Dodgers went on to beat the Yankees 8-7 on Wednesday night to claim the World Series 4-1.

‘I’M TRYING TO GILL THIS HAND UP, LA’

Shohei Ohtani and Co recovered from a five-run deficit in the fifth inning to win.

Speaking at the Championship rally, Betts claimed that the Dodgers are far from done.

“We got two so far,” he said. “We got like eight, nine years left?

“I got to get to at least five or six, right?

“We got to do this at least five or six times, right? I got three.

“I’m trying to fill this hand up, LA.”
