How Kamala Harris’ Final Rally Crowd Size Compared With Donald Trump’s

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris held their closing campaign rallies late last night, making a final push to energize voters in battleground states ahead of Election Day.

Harris held her last rally in Philadelphia on the steps at the Philadelphia Art Museum, where Sylvester Stallone’s “Rocky” was filmed. Some outlets reported that the crowd reached 30,000 people, and videos and images from the event show a sea of people. The actual figure is difficult to estimate because of the size of the open-air event.

Newsweek reached out to the Harris campaign and the Philadelphia Museum of Art via email.

Harris’s rally was a star-studded event, featuring an appearance from Oprah Winfrey and performances by Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin and Will. I. Am, who reworked his 2008 Obama anthem, “Yes He Can” into “Yes She Can.”

The vice president framed her campaign as being for “freedom” and a fresh start for the country. “We have an opportunity in this election to finally turn the page on a decade of politics that has been driven by fear and division. We are done with that,” Harris said.

“America is ready for a fresh start, ready for a new way forward where we see our fellow American not as an enemy but as a neighbor.”

Trump held his final rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the same city where he has held the closing events of his last two campaigns.

He spoke at the Van Andel Arena, which has a capacity of 12,000. Videos show empty seats at the venue, and some videos circulating online appear to show people filing out as he was still speaking.

This could be explained by the late hour—the former president was delayed in arriving and didn’t take to the stage until after midnight and spoke until a little after 2 a.m. Newsweek reached out to the Trump campaign and the Van Andel Arena via email.

Trump’s rally in Grand Rapids was his fourth event on Sunday, a day that began in North Carolina, continued with two rallies in Pennsylvania, and concluded in Michigan.

His rallies in this campaign have been notable for their dwindling crowd sizes—several venues have appeared not to have been filled out, and videos captured rallygoers leaving mid-event.

This could be because Trump has repeatedly campaigned in the same swing states, often appearing at the same venues. Several of his rallies have also started hours late.

Trump’s rally in Grand Rapids could be his last ever, as he has said he will not run again, even if he loses this election.

At the rally, the Republican hit several familiar notes, hinting at election fraud, insulting his opponents and criticizing Harris over immigration and the economy.

“We must defeat Kamala Harris and stop the radical left agenda with a landslide victory that is too big to rig,” Trump said.

“The silent majority is back, and tomorrow you need to get out and vote,” he added.
