A satirical Donald Trump mushroom statue has sprouted up in New York.
It was the latest in a series of mysterious Donald Trump statues that have appeared in Washington, D.C., Portland, Oregon, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in recent weeks. It isn’t known who is behind the creations.
The latest statue, which appeared in the Donald J. Trump State Park in Yorktown Heights, New York, on Monday, was a phallic-shaped column topped with a small gold mushroom.
The mushroom may be linked to comments made by adult film star Stormy Daniels, who described the former president’s penis as “like a toadstool” and “like the mushroom character in Mario Kart” in her 2018 tell-all memoir, Full Disclosure.
Newsweek contacted Trump’s representatives for comment.
On the column was a gold plaque that named the statue: “The Very Large Donald J. Trump monument.”
The plaque then read: “This giant pillar pays tribute to President Trump. As you can see this is a very large monument. Definitely the largest.
“Despite this towering statue’s impressive size, The president’s former mistress, Stormy Daniels, knowingly slandered the President as having a “smaller than average” monument and claimed it is an “unusual” monument similar to a “mushroom.” She further went on to describe her interaction with his monument as the “least impressive I’ve ever had.
“The circumstances surrounding her statements have been verified by a New York State Court of Law. This towering monument stands in defiance of these false statements so that we may all bear witness to the truth of this giant, very normal monument.”
Less than 24 hours after it appeared the statue was removed.
Over the past few weeks, multiple statues poking fun at Trump have been erected across the country.
Human-sized gold models of Trump and plaques reading: “In Honor of a Lifetime of Sexual Assault” at the base appeared in Portland and Philadelphia last week.
The plaques accompanying the statues also included some of the derogatory comments made in Trump’s Access Hollywood tape.
Both of the statues in Portland and Philadelphia appeared next to pre-existing bronze sculptures of women.
Two weeks ago in Washington, D.C., a mysterious poop monument appeared by the U.S. Capitol. It ironically paid tribute to Trump and the January 6th insurrectionists.
A second statue of a tiki torch, titled: “The Donald J Trump Enduring Flame,” also appeared in Washington, D.C. It seemed to refer to the 2017 Charlottesville Unite the Right March, which was attended by neo-Nazis.
It is not known who is behind any of the statues, though The Washington Post revealed that the National Park Service permit for the poop monument was sent by filmmaker Julia Jimenez-Pyzik. She told The Post that she is not the artist responsible.
The Post has received anonymous calls from someone purporting to be the artist. In one conversation the artist said: “We are hoping they spark conversation about what we view are certain political issues that are relevant to voters and how they make their decision voting.”
