Jadon Sancho still out; Cole Palmer is not back in practice either

Jadon Sancho will miss his fifth straight game when tonight’s UEFA Conference League match against FC Noah kicks off, as he continues to deal with an unspecified illness (in addition to a knock as well as our usual rotation policy).

The Manchester United The loanee hasn’t played since our 2-1 defeat at Anfield last month, and is also a doubt for this weekend’s big test at home to Arsenal – although Enzo Maresca probably didn’t expect him to start in that game anyway.

“He’s recovering from it (the illness). He had a knock in the session, so we’ll see. Tomorrow he’s out but we’ll see until Sunday’s game, otherwise it will be after the international break.”

Unfortunately, the news isn’t much better for Cole Palmer either, and Maresca, and the rest of us, are definitely counting on him against Arsenal.

“He didn’t train yesterday, so we’ll see today if he can train with us.”

“We hope (he will be ready for Arsenal). But we have to wait, we have to see and then decide. (It will be a risk either way), for sure.”

We have the last international break of the calendar year after the Arsenal game, so we may be able to factor that into our risk assessment. You don’t have to sacrifice the rest of the season for just one game (even a game against a top-four rival).
