A Thai man in the central province of Lop Buri lost 5,000 baht in cash and a motorcycle to his boyfriend, whom he had been dating for three months.

The 30 year old victim named Sun filed a complaint against his 22 year old boyfriend, Golf, at Mueang Lop Buri Police Station on October 31 and revealed the full story to Channel 7 yesterday, November 6. He had CCTV footage clearly showing that his boyfriend had betrayed him.

Sun explained that he met Golf on a social media app. Golf told him that his family operated a car rental business and later visited Sun at his home in a brand-new MG sedan. Sun found Golf trustworthy, so he began a relationship with him.

After three months together, Golf borrowed 5,000 baht from Sun, claiming he had a personal matter he couldn’t disclose at the time and promising to repay the debt by November 5.

Sun was cautious, drafting a loan contract and asking Golf to provide a copy of his ID card before giving him the money.

The incident took place on October 31, when Golf arrived at Sun’s home early in the morning and offered to take him to work. Sun explained that he usually rode his motorcycle to work and preferred to travel independently, but Golf insisted.

Sun left his motorcycle and its key at home, and Golf promised to pick him up after work. Unfortunately, Golf did not show up, forcing Sun to take a motorcycle taxi home.

Upon arrival, Sun found Golf and his motorcycle missing. His home showed signs of a search, so he checked the security camera footage from a neighbour across the road.

In the video, Golf and another woman, believed to be a car dealer, were seen at Sun’s home loading his motorcycle onto a white pickup truck. Sun suspected that Golf searched the house for the motorcycle’s documents, likely intending to sell it.

Golf later messaged Sun, saying he pawned the motorcycle to pay off a debt, warning that loan sharks would harm him if he did not. He added that he planned to go to Cambodia and sell his bank accounts to a scam call centre gang to use as mule accounts and promised to return to Thailand to redeem Sun’s motorcycle.

Police are now searching for both Golf and the car dealer seen in the CCTV footage.
