Healthcare workers have held a protest against Stormont over pay. Members of the union, Unison, gathered ahead of a meeting with the health committee.
The workers are angry that their 2024/25 pay rise has yet to be fixed, meaning their pay has fallen behind that of care workers across the rest of the UK.
Maura McKenna, co-chair of Unison’s regional health committee, said health professionals in Northern Ireland are frustrated with their treatment.
“We’re told the minister would like to pay it but he doesn’t have the money to pay it. We have staff here working at 1p above the minimum wage and that’s not acceptable.”
Unison represents over 27,000 health workers across Northern Ireland.
