Cranberry Supervisors Seek Funding for Police Department Renovations – Butler Eagle

CRANBERRY TWP — Supervisors took a tentative step toward securing funding for major renovations to the police department at a meeting Thursday, Nov. 7.

Officials unanimously approved a local equity account grant application that included detailed plans for the proposed project.

“It’s renovation of existing department space,” Township Manager Dan Santoro said. “It needs some maintenance. We need to address their locker rooms and areas and do some work in the bathrooms. Along with that, we can look at some reorganization of that space for the officers.”

The Cranberry Township Police Department moved to the current location more than two decades ago, and no major improvements have been made to the facility since then, he said.

“We have 30 officers and they all work out of that space,” Santoro said. “It’s time to refresh the space after 25 years.”

The grant program provides financial support to various public interest projects throughout the Commonwealth.

While it’s not a guarantee the council will receive funding, officials will begin preliminary work before receiving confirmation of the grant sometime next year.

“By 2025, we will budget the design piece,” Santoro said. “We are going through the drawings and waiting to hear where we are in terms of the grant. The project would not take place until 2026.”
