Morelos, 28, has dominated the football headlines in Colombia in recent months.

Back in October, he was arrested after an alleged drink-driving accident that left a motorcyclist with horror injuries.

Shocking footage captured the moment Morelos’ car struck the motorcyclist before he was nicked.

However, Morelos’ lawyers contested the breathalyser procedures after the arrest and claimed they were not valid.

The incident left Morelos’ footballing future up in the air.

He’s been on loan this season at Atletico Nacional in his homeland from Brazilian club Santos.

Morelos moved to Brazil just over a year ago after his contract at Rangers expired, but endured a difficult time and ended up on the move again earlier this year.

A week after his arrest, Atletico Nacional revealed they’d taken disciplinary action against Morelos but they did NOT rip up his loan deal.

Instead, just a further week later – and only two weeks after the road incident – Morelos returned to action for the club.

And last night, the 2024 Colombian season came to a close with the second leg of the Copa Colombia final.

Morelos had played a huge role in the first leg, scoring Nacional’s third goal in a 3-1 first leg win over America de Cali.

There were scenes of wild celebration as the striker savoured the moment with the Nacional fans.

The second leg took place overnight and it was a much less dramatic affair.

It ended 0-0 but it was a result that secured Nacional a 3-1 aggregate win and saw them retain the cup they won last year.

While there wasn’t much drama on the pitch, Morelos was involved in a dramatic incident as he made his way off of it.

The Colombia international was substituted in the 81st minute of the match.

It appeared that some shouts from the home crowd caught his attention.

TV cameras captured the moment Morelos began to gesture towards the fans in Cali with a ‘come on’ type gesture.

A member of Nacional staff then put his arm around Morelos, who continued to gesture towards the crowd.

Then, in a shocking moment, a BOTTLE is chucked at the former Rangers striker.

The plastic container, filled with what looks like orange juice, comes flying into shot.

The Nacional staff member dramatically ducks out of the way, while Morelos manages to CATCH the bottle with his right hand.

Colombian reports say that Morelos was reacting to ‘insults’ hurled at him from the crowd as he made his way off.

Other reports have suggested that he himself could end up being punished by the Colombian FA, who have strict rules with regards players ‘provoking’ supporters, with regards his gestures towards the supporters.

Nonetheless, it proved to be a memorable night for Morelos and his teammates who secured cup glory.

Wild dressing room scenes followed, with Nacional’s manager – ex-Celtic star Efrain Juarez – being lifted up in the air by his jubilant players and soaked with water in the dressing room.

The loan deal for Morelos, meanwhile, expires on December 31st.

But last week, Atletico Nacional chiefs revealed they were DESPERATE to keep him permanently.
