Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year revealed as festive farmhouse

A SCOTLAND’S Home of the Year superfan has won the Christmas edition of the popular BBC series.

Mum-of-four Angela Breen and hubby Mark triumphed on the interior design show’s festive special after transforming their rundown Victorian mansion in Lesmahago, Lanarkshire into a winter wonderland.

Judge Anna loved this kitchen island that was big enough for decor and preparing Christmas dinner.

And telly judge Anna Campbell Jones described their four year restoration job as producing the “perfect Scottish Christmas home”.

Primary teacher Angela, 41, said: “Winning Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year 2024 is an unbelievable achievement.

“We have watched every episode since the show started, but never in our wildest dreams did we think we could ever be considered for taking part in the show, never mind winning.

“Four years ago we moved in just four days before Christmas, with four young children, no electricity or heating and a full renovation project ahead of us.

“Winning is the best compliment, and the recognition for all our hard work is gratefully received. We are absolutely delighted.”

Angela and Mark, 35, live in the 19th Century Victorian house with kids Marylee, 15, Samuel, 14, Marcus, seven, and six-year-old Rosa.

And fellow judges, including Aussie design guru Banjo Beale and architect Danny Campbell were sleighed over by their Christmas decor.

Banjo claimed the house was the one he had been “promised in the storybooks as a kid” while Danny praised them for making “every inch twinkle with festive magic.”

Angela added: “When we got the news, there was a moment of disbelief before the house erupted in excited squeals and jumping. It has been a wonderful experience for all involved.

“Our winning trophy is centrally showcased on our sideboard for all to see. Every time we get a glimpse of it, we can’t help but smile.

“It’s a reminder of a special milestone in our lives and beautiful memories that were created along the way.”
