Tourists in Pattaya were left stunned in the early hours of yesterday as a group of women engaged in a public brawl outside the Pattaya City Police Station, just steps away from the beach.

Dubbed the “Coconut tree girls” due to their notorious hangouts under the beachfront palms, these provocatively dressed women put on a shocking spectacle that police say is part of a broader pattern of disruptive behaviour.

The fight erupted at 1.46am, December 16, with onlookers watching as two women, both believed to be in their 40s or 50s and dressed in black, pulled hair, slapped, and hurled insults at one another.

Friends tried to separate them but failed, leading to police intervention. Officers eventually broke up the scuffle, fining the brawlers and issuing stern warnings, said a police spokesperson.

“These women are well-known for approaching tourists, especially foreigners, and seeking attention.”

Police have made repeated attempts to remove the group but they often return, exploiting gaps in police patrols.

The incident has further tarnished Pattaya’s reputation as a tourist hotspot. With its sandy beaches and vibrant nightlife, the city aims to attract visitors from around the world, but scenes like this detract from its appeal.

Police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining order and preserving the city’s image.

“Behaviour like this undermines our efforts to make Pattaya a welcoming destination.”

While the “Coconut Tree Girls” were briefly subdued this time, locals worry it’s only a matter of time before the drama flares up again, leaving Pattaya police with the challenge of curbing such disruptions for good, reported Pattaya Mail.
