Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy Defeat Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in Golf Match

Two of the top golfers from the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, defeated two of the top LIV Tour golfers, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, in Tuesday’s made-for-TV exhibition Tuesday night.

Fans in Las Vegas got their money’s worth as they witnessed four of the best golfers in the world going head-to-head under the lights at the wonderful Shadow Creek.

Scheffler and McIlroy never tailed, and it was clear that they were on their ‘A’ game from the start.

Scheffler and McIlroy dominated from the get-go, taking home the $10 million cryptocurrency prize purse. After the win, Scherfelr said he would need to brush up on his knowledge of cryptocurrency.

“I don’t know a whole lot about crypto, but this is good enough motivation to do some research,” Scheffler said.

Scheffler and McIlroy each won $5 million paid in cryptocurrency, adding to Scheffler’s amazing year in which he won just over $62 million.

The No. 1 golfer in the world has had the best year any golfer could ask for, and it got even better on Tuesday. Although LIV Golf may be fun, new, and exciting, it was the guys from the PGA Tour who came away with the win.

The format was one point for a six-hole fourballs match, one point for a six-hole foursomes match and one point each for singles over the last six holes.

Scheffler and McIlroy never trailed in singles, and the match ended on the 16th hole without viewers getting a chance to see the signature par-3 17th at Shadow Creek.

The conditions were acceptable, but it got a bit chilly for both sides. Nonetheless, McIlroy was a man possessed, although he couldn’t help but talk about the weather after the match.

“It got cold pretty quickly, but obviously Scottie and I got off to a really good start, and then from there it was just about trying to keep the momentum,” McIlroy said on the TNT broadcast. “It was a bit of a battle in the alternate shot and we were lucky to scrape a win over those six holes.”

Tuesday’s event was one of the biggest and best in “The Match” that the game of golf has had. There’s been a ton of tension between the PGA and LIV; however, the two sides have been able to distance themselves from each other, and maybe a night like this is a sign of good things to come for the game.

There has been chatter about getting a deal done for a merger, but things have yet to materialize.
