Media outlet Times Now delved deeper to try to find the veracity of the story and it was revealed that the claims made in the story are not true.
The Davenport Police Association organizes a yearly Christmas Toy Drive.
The toy drive is just a ploy but the real motive was more serious and noble to help kids who were forced to leave their homes because of an abusive environment.
The Cola Trucks were roped in to host the ‘Fill the Truck’ event on Saturday which was a part of the Davenport Police Association endeavour.
The genesis of this event can be traced to 2002 when the Family Resources offices were burglarized right before Christmas.
The event aims to raise funds and collect toys for kids who were victims of domestic violence and are sheltered in Family Resources Domestic Violence Shelters, and Child Advocate programs.
The program also supports Family Resources Adopt a Family Program.
The viral video was from the event and the X Community also fact-checked the claim and it read,
“This was a toy drive at NorthPark Mall in Davenport, Iowa. It was held next to JCPenney, and Firestone (the Firestone sign can be seen in the posted video,”
Netizens also had an inkling that this was a false narrative and one X user stated,
“Coca Cola truck full of kids found. Why isn’t this all over the news? Fox, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and TMZ all crickets,”
