Weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office with parts of Scotland set to be hit by 80mph winds this weekend.
The forecaster has issued two yellow weather warnings for Saturday between 7am and 9pm when windy conditions are expected.
Strong winds are likely to disrupt road travel, as well as rail, air and ferry transport.
It added that a busier-than-usual travel period before Christmas could increase the risk of consequences.
The first warning covers the Highlands, Orkney Islands and Argyll and Bute.
In these areas, very strong westerly winds are expected to develop Saturday in association with a deep area of low pressure, with gusts of 65 to 75 mph.
Forecasters said there is a “slight chance of injury and danger to life” from large waves and beach material thrown onto the seafront, coastal paths and properties.
The Met Office added that there is a small chance of gusts in excess of 80mph in this region.
The second warning covers Stirling, Aberdeenshire, Moray, the Highlands, Dumfries and Galloway and Strathclyde.
As the windy conditions continue, coastal communities, routes and those close to the sea are likely to be affected by splashes and large waves.
The Met Office said strong westerly winds were expected to develop throughout Saturday, with gusts reaching 50-60mph widely.
