Jelly Roll took some heat recently from some when he was seen facing off against President-elect Donald Trump at UFC 309 in New York, and he’s had enough of it.
But what he had to say might not be much to the hardcore MAGA crowd’s taste either.
“Dude, there’s not a chance in hell I’m not going to meet the president-elect. I don’t care” he reportedly said while appearing on his wife, Bunnie Xo’s podcast “Dumb Blonde”.
“If I got a call to meet with Joe Biden, I would have stopped anytime and (met with) him,” he continued. “That’s the active president. I don’t care what he thinks or I think about politics.”
He wasn’t ready.
“I don’t hide behind I’m not political,” he added. “I am not political! People who actually know me know that I’m also one of the old school dudes. I like to talk about things I’m passionate about. With that, I would like to know about it. I don’t know enough about politics to act like I know anything that’s going on or what anybody stands for politically.”
The 40-year-old singer said it was cool to meet Trump.
“At the end of the day, I don’t care (about) any blowback I get,” he said. “The truth is: it was really cool to meet the president.”
