MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAW) – AAA says 121,000 Wisconsin residents will fly to their vacation destinations this year, and some of you may be using Central Wisconsin Airport to get to your final destination.
The airport director says they expect full flights for both their Delta and American flights. If you’re traveling on Monday or the next few days, make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time, at least 1 hour 30 minutes, maybe more. If you want to get through TSA quickly, remember these tips. Have your ID ready, listen to the TSA agents and their instructions. Finally, here is the most common violation they see.
“It’s people who don’t necessarily understand what you can travel with in your checked bag, so water, liquids, gels, aerosols, things like that, that really have no bad intentions, but still it’s not allowed on the plane through the checkpoint,” says Brian Grefe, Airport Director, Central Wisconsin Airport.
If you’re wrapping your presents this year to take with you, we have a tip that can save you some time. If you decide to wrap your gifts and take them through the airport, they may be flagged. If they get flagged, your gifts may have to be unwrapped, and all that hard work would have been for nothing. Central Wisconsin Airport recommends that you do not wrap your gifts, but if you do and your gift is being unwrapped, don’t worry, they have a gift wrapping station.
“Our goal is for no one to use it, because then we know people are packing correctly. If you need to wrap something that you’ve potentially forgotten, we have a station here past security in the concourse for anyone who needs to use it,” said Clerk.
Brian says they expect the busiest travel day at CWA to be the Sunday after Christmas for both inbound and outbound flights. If you lose your luggage while on vacation, it’s best to talk to your airline and also keep an eye on your airline’s app for that luggage.
