At least 15 people were forced to jump off the Comoros-flagged vessel, named Amnah, according to a local report.

A shocking video showed how people onboard the doomed ship ran off its deck when it started to turn into the water.

The footage also showed a passerby desperately attempting to help direct the crew members to safety in the horror senario.

Ten crew members were rescued off the capsizing ship by jumping into the water and being saved on tug boats.

Five others were able to swim to shore without help.

One person was reportedly rushed to hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

The boat started to capsize around 4am on Monday, reportedly due to improper load distribution.

Shocking footage of containers plunging into Istanbul‘s waters forced authorities to cordon off the area around the ship.

This was reportedly done to avoid pollution from the cargo sitting in the city’s port.

Turkey’s transportation ministry said: “The risk to the marine environment has been controlled, and the vessel is surrounded by floating barriers.

“Rescue operations started under the coordination of our port authority.”

This ill-fated ship arrived at Istanbul from Derince Port, located in Izmit Bay.

The 331-foot-long ship was built in 1996.

SHIP TERROR

This ship has not been the first vessel to dramatically capsize this year.

A South Korean-flagged chemical tanker, carrying almost 1,000 tonnes of acid, overturned off the coast of Japan, The Sun previously reported.

Crew onboard the Keoyoung Sun sent out a distress call as the tanker struggled off the coast of Japan’s Mutsure Island.

An urgent rescue operation was prompted when the ship capsized but at least seven people died in the tragedy.
