It is a known fact that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX exercises enormous clout on the upcoming Republican Government led by Donald Trump.
However, there is an unsettling discussion about the ever-increasing influence of the billionaire in US politics and administration.
The discussions are also focused on the possibility of Elon Musk becoming the US President in the future.
Is Elon Musk Eligible for US Presidency?
Donald Trump has responded to this talk and read on to know what he said on the issue and also allegations that he had ceded much leverage to the Tesla Chief.
Donald Trump has very categorically stated that Elon Musk can never become the President of the United States in the future.
Talking to a Conservative youth group, Turning Point USA, the President-Elect said,
“No, he’s not taking the presidency. You know, they’re on a new kick. All the different hoaxes. The new one is that President Trump has ceded the presidency to Elon Musk. No, no, that’s not happening,”
Elon Musk finds himself increasingly at the centre of controversy after Donald Trump has been elected for the second term and he is being indicted of increased influence in the nation’s politics.
Trump has repeatedly stated that he is a great admirer of the SpaceX CEO who has been the biggest donor for the Trump Presidential campaign.
Musk had donated $238.5 million for Trump’s election campaign to become the biggest donor in US election history.
Trump had stated when addressing an audience in Phoenix,
“Isn’t it nice to have smart people we can rely on? Don’t we want that? But no, he’s not going to be president that I can tell you. And I’m safe. You know why? He can’t be. He wasn’t born in this country. Ha ha ha,”
Trump also created the Department of Government Efficiency to be headed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
The Department was tasked with trimming unnecessary expenses and deregulation.
However, instead of an official arm of the Government, it will function as a small group of people working from Musk’s SpaceX office in Washington in conjunction with the social media platform owned by Musk X.
However, Musk’s increased influence has alarmed many corporate houses that are regulated by the Federal Government and receive contracts.
Coming to the question as to why Trump had said that Elon Musk will never become US President is due to the stipulations in the US Constitution which clearly states that any US Presidential candidate must be born in the US and a natural-born US citizen.
Elon Musk was born in South Africa and later migrated to the US.
