Today’s weather forecast from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) highlights the ongoing cold spell across the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand, with thunderstorms expected in some southern areas. A moderate northeastern monsoon affects the Gulf of Thailand and southern regions, while tropical storm Pabuk is anticipated to approach Vietnam’s eastern coast.
The high-pressure system continues to dominate the upper parts of Thailand and the upper southern region, resulting in cold to very cold weather across the north and northeast. Residents in these areas are advised to take care of their health due to the chilly conditions and to be cautious of potential fire hazards in dry weather.
Additionally, fog can be expected in certain areas, necessitating caution while travelling.
Tropical storm Pabuk is poised to move closer to Vietnam’s eastern coast between today and tomorrow, potentially weakening into a low-pressure area shortly thereafter.
The northeastern monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and southern region maintains moderate strength, causing thunderstorms in the lower southern provinces. The Gulf of Thailand experiences waves approximately 2 metres high, while the Andaman Sea has waves about 1 metre high, increasing in height offshore.
Areas with thunderstorms may see waves exceeding 2 metres. Mariners in these regions are urged to proceed with caution and avoid navigating through stormy areas.
