Singapore will experience possible flooding from 10 to 13 January

Stay tuned this weekend as possible flooding could occur between January 10 and 13 due to a monsoon wave expected to hit Singapore. Our National Water Authority PUB has advised that heavy rain over the next four days may cause drains and canals to overflow temporarily, resulting in flash flooding.

Thundery showers and windy conditions are forecast to last until Monday as strong winds over the South China Sea cause large rain clouds to form over the region. In addition to intense downpours, daily temperatures may also drop to 22 degrees in some parts of Singapore.

Flooding has been a fairly common occurrence in Singapore recently, with three episodes in a three-month period last year. You may have caught it on the news, or been caught in one yourself. Anyway, if you’re going out this weekend, it’s best to wear your waterproof shoes and bring an umbrella. Oh, and a jacket if you don’t do well in colder weather.

Get updates on potential flood prone areas at PUB’s Flood Alerts Telegram channelor the MyENV app. In the meantime, we have received some tips on how to spend a rainy day in singapore.
