Farhan Akhtar’s Birthday: Shabana Azmi Says ‘We All Turn To Him For Advice’ | EXCLUSIVE
Shabana Azmi finds it hard to believe that her son (she detests the term “stepson”) is now 51.
“Is he really in his 50s? No way! You have to agree that there is something eternally youthful about Farhan. He is a child at heart, and he will remain. But a very mature child. His worldly wisdom amazes me sometimes. We all turn to him for advice. Farhan gives the best advice in our family,” says Shabana.
A histrionic legend herself, Shabana says she was surprised by Farhan’s performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. “It was the most pitch-perfect performance I have seen since Balraj Sahni’s Garm Hawa. Farhan is a very underrated actor. But if you ask me if he is a better actor than a filmmaker, I would be hesitant to give an answer. I like him as much as a filmmaker and an actor. But most of all I like him as a son. He is gentle and caring, loving and attentive.”
Shabana talks about the amazing bond between Javed Akhtar and his son. “Javed has an equally strong bond with both his children. The relationship he shares with Zoya is completely different from the one he shares with Farhan. I am equally close to both Farhan and Zoya.”
