Xbox players have just a week to play six free games before they’re gone for good

XBOX adds a few new games to Game Pass every month, and a few games always have to go.

Three games were added to Game Pass this month, while four titles are returning to Game Pass Standard following the tier change.

Six games will be leaving Game Pass this month, and all of them are available for cloud, console and PC.

One of the biggest games leaving this month is Exoprimal, Capcom’s 2023 multiplayer third-person shooter.

Originally a live-service game, Capcom announced last year that it would stop making new seasonal content and instead repeat previous seasons.

The end of new content updates for Exoprimal and its dwindling player base likely contributed to its upcoming removal from Game Pass.

Escape Academy is another highly-rated puzzle game leaving this month where you train in figuring out escape rooms.

Luckily, many of the games can be finished before they disappear from Game Pass for good.

The exception is Insurgency Sandstorm, a co-op tactical FPS that can take over 100 hours to complete.

Here are all six games that are leaving Xbox Game Pass on Wednesday, January 15, 2025:

  • Common’Hoodcloud, console & PC
  • Escape Academycloud, console & PC
  • Exoprimalcloud, console & PC
  • Figmentcloud, console & PC
  • Insurgency Sandstorm cloud, console & PC
  • Those Who Remain cloud, console & PC

Games Passed On

It’s been six months since Xbox announced major changes to Game Pass, including price hikes and the new Standard plan with no day-one releases.

Since then, fewer games have been added to the services than before the announcement, and more games have been leaving.

This means that the number of games available via Xbox’s subscription service reduces every month.

As Game Pass offers less value to players every month, it is making other services like PlayStation Plus, Apple Arcade, Switch Online and Netflix seem more attractive to players.
