Woman recalls disturbing experience of racial slurs on Delhi Metro: ‘Education does not justify behaviour’ | Trendy

In a disturbing incident on board the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line, a woman was subjected to repeated racist comments by a child, leaving her embarrassed and distressed. The ordeal was shared by the victim on Reddit, sparking a debate about a lack of social responsibility and conduct.

The woman told how she had offered part of her seat on the women’s coach to an 8-9-year-old girl after the child’s mother requested it, citing her daughter’s outburst. Despite being tired, she made room for the child to sit, but the situation took an unpleasant turn.

“Now now that LITTLE SH*T kept mumbling ‘chiNki ChiNeSe chInKi ChiEse’ from the moment they boarded the subway,” the woman wrote, describing how she initially tried to ignore the comments and assumed it was all in her head. However, the littering continued and became more audible after the child sat next to her.

“I was in the women’s coach and everyone was staring at me like I was doing something wrong. I was very embarrassed,” she says. To her dismay, the child’s mother remained indifferent to her daughter’s behavior, scrolling through her phone and ignoring the repeated racial slurs.

The victim, clearly upset, chose not to confront the child or the mother, fearing it could escalate the situation. “I didn’t want to fight a little brat with no manners. My whole day was ruined because of that,” she shared.

Reflecting on the incident, the woman expressed frustration at the social normalization of such behavior. “It’s not my fault that I look like this. It’s not even the first time I’ve encountered racism, but a literal child sending comments to a stranger – that’s such a NO NO NO!”

She further criticized the mother’s passivity and pointed out how important it is for parents to instill basic manners in their children. “Mind you, from their looks they seemed very wealthy and educated, but nowadays education doesn’t really justify behavior,” she noted.

The woman ended her post with a plea: “If you are a parent or teenager reading this, please teach your child some manners so they don’t pull this on a random stranger in the future!”

Take a look at the post:

Many flocked to the comments section to share their views. One annoyed user wrote: “You should have stepped on mum’s foot when you stood up.”

Another shared, “Man I have seen someone call me moti and I called her back by saying tere baap ka khaati hu kya. She had nothing to say and was actually shocked that I got a reply instead of accepting and feeling ashamed . The same thing happened to a little boy. God, he was staring at a woman’s cleavage.”

One user wrote, “It’s really wrong that it happened in the first place, you should have confronted them, but at the end of the day we live in Delhi and people here would never accept their mistake because their pea-sized brain won’t be able to understand it, so just buy a pair of noise canceling headphones and you’re good to go, works like a charm for my (ex) girlfriend.”
