A Harare woman has been arrested after being accused of repeatedly forcing herself on her lodger’s 10-year-old son.
H-Metro reports that Fadzai Chimboza, 24, appeared in court on Tuesday, facing charges of aggravated indecent assault.
She was remanded in custody by Harare regional magistrate Tilda Mazhande until January 29.
Shocking Allegations
According to court documents, the alleged abuse began in April 2024. The young boy lived with his parents in a Warren Park 1 home owned by Chimboza’s family.
The prosecution revealed that Chimboza reportedly lured the boy into her room after he returned from school.
“She pulled the boy into her room, undressed him, and instructed him to lie on the bed,” the prosecutor said.
When the boy protested, Chimboza allegedly told him,
“NDINODA KUKUITA ZVISINA KUKWANA,” which translates to ‘I want to do indecent things to you.’
The abuse allegedly occurred on several occasions after that.
Incident Comes to Light
The matter was exposed on December 19, 2024, after the lodger’s 10-year-old son confided in his cousin that he had “a girlfriend.”
The prosecutor added:
“His mother overheard the conversation and questioned him. That is when the boy disclosed the incidents.”
A police report was filed, leading to Chimboza’s arrest.
Court Proceedings
During her court appearance, Chimboza was not asked to plead. Magistrate Mazhande reminded her that,
“Due to the nature of the charges, bail can only be considered by the High Court.”
The boy is currently receiving counselling, and police investigations are ongoing.
