ZIMSEC A-Level Results: Girls Outshine Boys with 95.94% Pass Rate
In a remarkable achievement, girls have outperformed boys in the November 2024 Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) Advanced Level examinations.
This marks a significant shift from the previous year, where boys led with a higher pass rate.

ZIMSEC Releases Results for 2024 A-Level Exams
The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) officially released the A’level results on Friday, January 10, 2025.
The overall pass rate for the 2024 A-Level examinations stood at 94.58%, showing a marginal decrease from 94.60% in 2023.
A total of 33,585 candidates participated in the exams, a decrease of 852 from the previous year. Among them, 33,246 candidates sat for two or more subjects, with 31,443 achieving Grade E or better.
Girls’ Performance Marks Historic Shift
The 2024 results mark a notable shift from the previous year when boys led the pass rate statistics. In 2023, boys recorded a pass rate of 93.95%, while girls achieved 93.32%.
This year, 17,306 girls sat for the exams, compared to 16,092 boys.
Girls outperformed boys with a pass rate of 95.94%, while boys achieved a pass rate of 92.05%, The Sunday News reveals.
Private Candidates Trail Behind School Candidates
Meanwhile, school candidates continued to dominate with an impressive pass rate of 95.18%, while private candidates achieved 90.52%.
Results Accessible Online
Speaking to journalists on Friday, ZIMSEC board chairperson, Professor Paul Mapfumo, confirmed that candidates can access their results online through the ZIMSEC portal starting January 10, 2025.
The portal will remain open for five days. Physical copies of the results will be available for collection at ZIMSEC regional offices beginning Monday, January 13, 2025.
