MLB legend Jose Canseco forced to sell off prized possessions including customized car wash after ‘blowing $40m fortune’

BASEBALL star Jose Canseco is desperately trying to raise money for a new business by selling memorabilia on Facebook.

The U.S. Sun has seen posts from the MLB legend on the Las Vegas Facebook marketplace advertising a slew of personal effects, including a signed poker table.

The table is being offered for a cool $25,000, while some ostrich leather boots and flash wheel rims are also available.

“Absolutely stunning Jose Canseco custom signature poker table,” declares the product description. “One of a kind in new like condition.”

When contacted by The U.S Sun, the two-time World Series winner and six-time All-Star said he was launching the sale to raise investment in his new venture, PX40/40.

He says the batting aid will “revolutionize the art of power-hitting and swinging, not just in baseball and softball but also on the golf course.”

“It’s the future of power hitting,” claims the product’s website.

The size 13 Ostrich boots are described as “absolutely awesome,” as is a 2021 custom-made Triumph Rocket motorcycle with just 500 miles on the clock.

That is flogged for $17,000, while 24-inch Rolls Royce wheels and tires are available for $4,500.

Canseco earned over $40 million in his 17-year playing career.

But the slugger, who became embroiled in the MLB steroid controversy of the 1990s, blew all his earnings and filed for bankruptcy in 2012.

He opened a car wash in Las Vegas in 2019, but just four years later, when the business was struggling, it was put back on the market.

Canseco and the man responsible for selling Showtime Car Wash – decked out in Oakland A’s colors with the slugger’s name emblazoned all over the property – didn’t respond to The U.S. Sun’s attempts to clarify the current ownership situation.

The Yelp page for the business claims it’s “closed temporarily.”

For now, however, the 60-year-old focuses most of his efforts on his new batting aid.

Canseco’s struggles have been widely documented.

His daughter, Josie, 28, addressed claims about her family’s wealth in an Instagram post last March, challenging assumptions about her famous last name.

“To everyone saying I come from ‘rich money’ because I’m a ‘Canseco,’ do your research,” she wrote on Instagram two years ago.

“My family’s money was gone by the time I was 6 or 7 due to bankruptcy. I’ve had to work hard not only to maintain my family name but also to pay my bills—because no one else did that for me.”

Canseco, who became a household name starring for the Oakland A’s and New York Yankees, has faced legal troubles in the past, including a 1998 arrest for domestic battery against Josie’s mother, Jessica.

He pleaded no contest to the charge and received one year of probation as part of a plea deal.

Jose and Jessica, a cosmetic tattoo artist, were married for only three years.

Their marriage ended in divorce in 1999 following allegations of infidelity and battery.

In 2008, his Encino, California home went into foreclosure, and later that year, he was handed a 12-month probation sentence for a drug charge.

While appearing on the TV show Inside Edition to discuss his financial situation, he disclosed that his two divorces were among his many financial challenges, estimating their cost at $7 to $8 million.

Josie claimed she was forced to maintain an image of wealth to uphold appearances.

“I love my dad and am proud of where I come from,” the model and reality TV star told the New York Post in 2018.

“Growing up, there was a lot of pressure to meet certain expectations and appear as though we had money. It was like living in a façade.

“I didn’t want people to know about the struggles, like the bankruptcy or when he was arrested, because those were things out of my control.”
