DJ Nicholas finishes graduation and prepares sixth studio album

DJ Nicholas.

Gospel artist DJ Nicholas recently completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree at Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, USA. Next year he intends to take a degree.

In an interview with Jamaica Observer on Friday, DJ Nicholas explained the decision to pursue higher education.

“I finished my AS (associate of science) degree in 2018. After that, I went back and got my AA (associate of arts) degree so I could get into a bachelor’s program. It took about six years to complete, as I did it part-time. I did some classes on campus and some online,” DJ Nicholas shared.

When asked how he was able to juggle studies, being a father, a husband and maintaining a music career, he said: “It takes a lot of knowing what to prioritize at what time to juggle everything I do.”

While continuing his studies, DJ Nicholas released two singles late last year. In September he released
Christ a Mi Lifewhich is produced by Touched by an Angel. The song is included on a collection called
The trilogy.

On Christ a Mi Lifethis is me trying to be creative with the words I use to praise God. I don’t like to say what everyone else is saying. So instead of saying give God the glory, praise the Lord, I said, ‘To the height of the sky, God praise to the height of the sky,’” DJ Nicholas said.

A month later he was released Prayer meetingwhich is a co-production between DJ Tropical and J Crazy.

Prayer meeting was inspired by praying with my wife and some of our friends over the phone. We had a great time in prayer where we could feel God’s conviction and a charged atmosphere. After this I heard a beat from a song by Ryan Mark called Jackpot which I liked. The producers reached out to me and sent me the same beat. I went to the studio and the song came quickly. The idea came that nothing is hotter than a charged prayer meeting. This is also a scripture in Acts 16 about Paul and Silas praying and singing hymns until the prison doors were opened,” explained DJ Nicholas.

He also shared that the response to both songs has been positive, and he hopes to include them on his sixth studio album, which he plans to release later this year.

“I haven’t finalized the album title or release date. What I can say is that the title will be consistent with my loud/shout themes, and Prayer meeting will be one of the tracks on it. I also try to collaborate with an American gospel artist in each of my projects,” said DJ Nicholas.

The artist is known for the hit songs Back 2 D Owner, Holy Ghost Gym, Divine Mathematics, and
Stuff already Betta with Judith Gayle.
