DENVER — Not all Broncos fans made it to Buffalo for wild-card weekend. That means many people live in the Mile High City, and local bars are bracing for a boom in business.
“We open at 10 and we expect a line out the door probably at least 9:30, if not earlier,” said Jonathan Engleberg, general manager of Chopper’s Sports Grill in Cherry Creek.
At Chopper’s Sports Grill, the phones are ringing off the hook for Sunday’s big game.
“You can definitely feel the excitement of getting back to the playoffs now, for the first time in eight years,” Engleberg said.
The sports bar stocked up with staples from game day. They expect to hand out at least 150 orders of wings.
“We have a very good, solid, classic wing that we do,” Engleberg said.
Another fan favorite, The Original Brooklyn’s, near Empower Field, is also expecting record crowds.
It’s about staying ahead of the rush for employee Emilie Pettit.
“Obviously burgers are going to start happening. So they’re going to make sure they get a ton lined up on the grill. So that way as soon as people come in, we’re just like, boom, boom, boom,” Pettit said.
Both bars are poised for a boost in business on a game day nearly a decade in the making.
“Seeing the support we’re getting, not just from just our regulars that are here all the time. For the new fans that are showing up, that really tells us we’re doing something right,” Engleberg said.
