A retired IAS officer was assaulted by a bus conductor for refusing to pay an extra charge of Rs 10 in Rajasthan’s Jaipur.
According to the police, the incident took place on January 10 when the retired IAS officer, RL Meena, 75, was not dropped at the correct bus stop, after which he refused to pay the surcharge.
Meena was supposed to get off the bus at the Kanota bus stop on Agra Road, but the conductor, Ghanshyam Sharma, did not inform him when the stop arrived.
When the bus reached the next stop at Nayla, Sharma asked Meena to pay an extra fare of Rs 10, which he refused.
An argument broke out between the conductor and Meena, during which Ghanshyam pushed Meena. In response, the retired IAS officer slapped Sharma, after which the conductor repeatedly assaulted him until Meena got off the bus.
A video of the incident was widely shared on social media following which a case was registered against Ghanshyam at Kanota Police Station. He has been suspended by Jaipur City Transport Services Limited for misconduct.
