Scottland FC appoints Nyasulu to run junior policy – Newsday Zimbabwe

A former head coach and now second assistant, Nyasulu joins forces with Tonderai Ndiraya (head coach) and Naison Muchekela (first assistant), both seasoned coaches who played for Dynamos.

REFURBISHED Scottland FC have tapped into the expertise of coach William Nyasulu who has been appointed as part of a strong technical team.

A former head coach and now second assistant, Nyasulu joins forces with Tonderai Ndiraya (head coach) and Naison Muchekela (first assistant), both seasoned coaches who played for Dynamos.

Ndiraya also coached Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum Stars. He won his first league title last season with Simba Bhora.

Nyasulu was behind Mabviravira’s success although he later worked under Genesis Mangombe, culminating in their promotion to the top flight after winning the Northern Region Soccer League last season.

He started as a head coach in Division 1 before moving down the ladder to assistant because he does not have the necessary Caf coaching license.

But with the support of club president and founder Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya, Nyasulu went for his Caf examinations in Tanzania and once he collects his papers this month, he will go for the Caf B licence.

His right-hand man and goalkeeper coach Bruce Matawu will enroll in his repeat license course in Malawi this month. Together they put the junior footballers through their paces at the Alex Sports Club in Harare in the hope of discovering new gems.

“Last August I was sent to Tanzania to get my Caf C license thanks to club president Scott Sakupwanya, everything went according to plan and I now have the necessary papers,” Nyasulu told NewsDay Sport.

“The hierarchy continues to recognize my efforts at the club, it is no easy feat to be assistant to such celebrated names in Zimbabwean football, Ndiraya, a reigning premiership winning coach. It can only help strengthen my coaching resume.”

With the PSL making it mandatory for all top teams to have at least five juniors in their squad, Ndiraya has thrown his weight behind his second assistant, tasking him with digging deep into their development sides, Division 1 and Division 2 teams.

“I am delighted to take on this role and identify young talent for our premiership side. My focus will be on scouting and developing juniors who have the technical ability, tactical awareness and physicality required to succeed at the top level “, he added.

“By nurturing these young players we will not only strengthen our first team but also create a sustainable future for Scotland FC.”

Scotland have been on a shopping spree to snap up the country’s top talent, including reigning football star of the year Walter Musona and runners-up Khama Billiat and Lynoth Chikuhwa, among a galaxy of other stars.
