What is American Primeval?
The 2025 Netflix Mini Series follows unrest in the expanding West of the USA in the 1800s.
This historical drama is set during the turbulent years of the 1857 Utah War.
Several characters – some based on real people – faced a huge crisis before they decide to travel West across the country’s frontier.
It starts with Sara Rowell and her son Devin as they set off from Fort Bridger, Wyoming, to California.
They join a wagon train which is later attacked by Mormon militia dressed as natives.
The pair manage to flee but the show continues to follow other characters affected by the massacre.
This drama is set in the historic post of Fort Bridger, set up by mountaineer Jim Bridger.
This was the start of the shows power struggle between Mormon settlers, the federal government, and Natives.
Who dies in the American Primeval ending?
The sixth and final episode of this mini series is a dramatic and tragic one.
Virgil Cutter is killed after Isaac holds him down while Sara stabbed him in the chest.
Unbeknown to the pair, Cutter’s younger brother Lucas was alive and saw the incident.
Lucas was killed after he later tried to seek revenge and attempted to attack Sara.
Issac showed up to shoot Lucas but he had also been shot.
Red Feather, the warrior and leader of the Wold Clan, was shot and killed by Wolsey.
The warrior however survived long enough to strike an axe through Wolsey’s head.
Jacob Pratt, believing his wife Abish had been killed, sought to fight the Shoshone as an act of revenge.
His wife had in fact not been killed yet, but not recognizing Abish, Jacob shot her in the chest.
Jacob then shot himself after his wife died in his arms.

Who survives in the American Primeval ending?
Devin and Sara finally get their happy ending when the pair ride off to California at the end of the episode.
Two Moons survived even after a terrifying wolf attack during the episode, because Devin shot the animal with a gun.

Shea Whigham, know for portraying Eli in Boardwalk Empire, starred as Jim Bridger in this show.
Betty Gilpin plays Sara Rowell and Preston Mota played her son Devin Rowell.
Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch starred as Issac Reed.
Jai Courtney, who played in several major Hollywood films like Suicide Squad and Divergent, starred as Virgil Cutter.
Derek Hinkey played Red Feather and actress Shawnee Pourier starred as Two Moons.
