The ZRP urged transport operators to ensure the safety of schoolchildren by adhering to road rules and avoiding reckless behaviour on the roads.
“The safety of learners during movements to and from school is of paramount importance. We urge transport operators to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and certified fit for carrying passengers before transporting children to schools. Schools Urged Not to Keep Cash on Premises
The ZRP also highlighted the need for schools to avoid keeping large sums of cash on their premises, recommending that all school fees and tuition payments be deposited directly into banks.
“Additionally, school authorities are advised to deposit school fees and tuition-related costs at financial institutions. This precautionary measure will help minimize the risk of robbery and theft, as large sums of cash at school premises attract criminal attention. Criminals often gather information from individuals close to school authorities and staff and end up exploiting this information to target the schools. In this regard, school authorities should be careful on how financial transactions are conducted.,” the ZRP warned.
