DOLLAR Tree has delighted Valentine’s Day fans with an array of romantic craft items.
But there is a hidden twist with its special heart-shaped stickers.

Dollar Tree is selling sheets of adhesive hearts in a variety of colors – gold, silver, red, and pink – for just $1.25.
And it’s not obvious at first glance, but the stickers can be used in an artistic way to hide letters, images or words in a personalized Valentine’s Day message to your loved one.
That’s because they’re special scratch and reveal heart stickers.
They come in two different sizes, with one version providing six larger heart stickers, and the alternative offering 15 of the adhesives.
One thrilled buyer – a teacher – said on YouTube: “I thought these would be so cool in the classroom for Valentine’s Day.
“It’s such an economical way to treat your students, and it doesn’t break the bank for you.”
The teacher prepared a card for students which said at the top: “Roses are red, violets are blue, scratch the heart to reveal a Valentine treat for you.”
She then peeled and placed a red heart sticker below this text to hide a special message at the bottom corner of a card.
She advised against using dark ink, as the message could be seen through it.
After using a penny to scratch off the adhesive, the teacher added: “Oh yes, this is a game-changer, that comes off so cleanly.
“I would use these all through the year – who cares if they’re hearts?
“These will go fast at Dollar Tree [as] they do not keep their seasonal things; once they’re gone, they’re gone.”
Another happy customer wrote in an online review: “I bought these… as an accidental find and had to go back for more.
“I absolutely loved the quality and how easy they were to use.
“Wish they would ship more to the stores or even allow you to buy them online.
Dollar Tree pricing – items no longer all just $1
Despite the name of the store, Dollar Tree sells items that cost more than $1 – to the confusion of shoppers.
For 35 years, Dollar Tree sold arts and crafts, books, toys, home furnishings, kitchenware, holiday decorations, stationary, party supplies, food and household essentials for just $1.
But in 2022 it decided to hike prices to $1.25 on most of its merchandise being sold across all stores.
Even its well-known $1 circle signs were replaced with the new $1.25 sale price.
“This is the appropriate time to shift away from the constraints of the $1.00 price point,” the bargain chain said in a news release.
Retail commentators warned back then that the chain’s decision to raise prices by 25% was a huge gamble.
However, CNN explained that to stick to the “rigid” $1 prices would have risked huge “drawbacks.”
It said: “Because Dollar Tree couldn’t raise prices, it was more vulnerable to cost increases than competitors who had the ability to pass them off to customers.”
Mark Cohen, director of retail studies at Columbia University’s business school and a former executive at Sears added: “You can’t sustain the business at that level.”
Most items at the store cost no more than $1.25, but items in the Dollar Tree Plus section cost up to $5.
“I’d also love to see them in other shapes for year round use.”
Dollar Tree says on its website that shoppers can use the special adhesives to “spread the love with something everyone loves — stickers.”
“These fun heart-shaped scratch stickers are great for classrooms, scrapbooking, DIY projects, adding to gifts, and more.”
Also selling for $1.25 at Dollar Tree are these Valentine’s Day pet themed chocolate heart boxes, containing assorted milk and dark chocolates.
Another money-saving item are these Fuzzy Friend’s Valentine’s puppy plush toys which are also currently available for $1.25.
