A BRAND new Harley-Davidson dealership is set to open in just a matter of days – contrasting a spate of closures for the legendary motorcycle brand across the US.
The bike outlet is to open in Ruckersville, Virginia, after more than a year of construction, in a major relocation from Orange County.
The new location will include dozens of bikes, having been worked for over a year[/caption]
The opening comes amid a spate of Harley-Davidson store closures in recent months[/caption]
Excitement mounted earlier in the month when the finishing touches were made to the Stonewall Harley-Davidson dealer – as pieces of inventory were brought in.
This included dozens of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, which made their way from Orange County to Greene County.
To transport the precious cargo, riders from different bike groups, Harley-Davidson staff members and customers volunteered to take the bikes onto the roadways to the new dealership.
Speaking to 29News, Stonewall Harley-Davidson co-owner Ken Barner said: “We had about 30 or 40 riders, police from Greene County and Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Ruckersville Fire Department escorted us in.”
Co-owner Evan Bache added: “The bike community is family.”
Located on Buck Drive off Route 29, the new store broke ground in November of 2023.
Speaking of the former location, Barner said: “The building that we were in was old and outdated.”
But Barner hinted at the hard work that was needed to get to where they are now.
“We got here finally, so it’s pretty cool to me,” Bache said.
Barner added: “We’re excited to be in Greene County and have a fresh new start.”
In recent months, many Harley dealerships have been shutting down across the country.
One such example was the Historic Harley-Davidson of Topeka, Kansas, which changed hands after some 75 years.
Customers will also no longer be able to stop by the Harley-Davidson Sports Center in Duluth, Minnesota, which is about 150 miles north of Minneapolis.
The beloved Harley-Davidson store announced in December it’s shutting its doors after 73 years.
What’s more, a gorgeous, two-story brick-built Harley-Davidson outlet located in the village entertainment district of Rosemont, Illinois, announced closure back in November, after plans to relocate it fell through.
But in some good news for lovers of the legendary motorcycle brand, their first new model for 2025 was unveiled just days ago, leaving fans thrilled.
The new Street Glide is set to be released this year and will be available with a classic finish that hasn’t been offered for many years.
The new model can be purchased with a Firestorm Paint finish, which was the brand’s factory paint for the 1980 Wide Glide and was later reprised on the 2012 model.
Now, some 13 years on, it’s making a comeback on the upcoming Street Glide.
